While the use of profanity or differing with a supervisor establishes insubordination, the Grievant stepped over an important line when he stated "I'm not going to change it, and who cares anyway!" and also later refused the request with stronger language and slapping a table. From the circumstances, tone, volume and the actions accompanying the words, the Grievant did not show "military courtesy and respect for rank."
