AWARD: 0228 (Revised) The award in this case was a stipulated arbitral award. The employee called in sick one day, and only that day, and did not return to work for two weeks. It was discovered that he had gone to Virginia Beach on vacation. He did not have leave balances to cover a two-week vacation, although he alleges he forwarded leave slips through proper channels. The employee was reinstated to his position on a last chance basis with the removal modified to a 30-day disciplinary suspension with the balance of time recorded as leave without pay.
